The \nmain idea behind this oscillator is to combine the benefits of trend and\n cycle indicators and minimize their drawbacks such as lags or false \nsignals. The main purpose of the STC is to identify or confirm price \ndirection and market turning points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The STC is calculated\n as a double smoothed stochastic of the MACD, which outputs an \noscillator that moves between 0 and 100. In trending markets, the \noscillator is expected to move up if the market is in the accelerating \nuptrend; accelerating downtrends are supposed to push the oscillator \ndown.
